Lernballon | Browser-based Multiplatform App
Project Intro
Our client, the Crown Adam AG design agency, worked with Canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland to deliver a browser-based multiplatform app to teach fourth-grade math students at home and in the classroom.
We developed a full suite of games and lessons, as well as robust back-end diagnosis and licensing tools.

Our Contribution
The Problem
There were a few key challenges:
- Engage young children with a REAL curriculum guided by professional educators.
- Make learning feel really fun.
- Make sure parents and teachers can monitor their students in a secure and privacy-focused manner.
- Make sure the product is paid for by licenses and outside customers.
Our Solution
Double Coconut worked with Crown Adam to handle all front-end and back-end engineering and deliver:
A character-based personalization system -- or 'Avatar Store' -- where students could earn coins and customize their Learning Balloon.
A gamified progression system using 'dice' and 'star ratings' to indicate difficulty and clearly show the student their progress.
A customer admin portal where district administrators can set up and monitor teachers, parents, classes, and students.
A paid version available via credit card for parents interested in the application outside the canton of St. Gallen.
